今日、日銀で行われたコンファランスにおけるバーナンキ議長の講演

ざっと見て気にになるのは、"The Case for Central Bank Independence"の部分。

A broad consensus has emerged among policymakers, academics, and other informed observers around the world that the goals of monetary policy should be established by the political authorities

とか、こういうさりげない部分が日本ではうやむやになってるぞ、と思う。

To achieve both price stability and maximum sustainable employment, monetary policymakers must attempt to guide the economy over time toward a growth rate consistent with the expansion in its underlying productive capacity.

というのは、価格の安定と雇用の確保の両方を目標にしているFRBならではかなあ、とか。

講演の翻訳が早くも作られつつある。素晴らしい。

講演後の質疑応答で、ブランシャールの4%程度の目標インフレ率の話を聞かれ、「2%程度のインフレ率が適切ではないか」と話したらしい。それについて書かれたFT.comのブログ記事。

このあたり、日本のマスコミではきちんと伝えられなかったらしい（下のロイターの記事はきちんとしているが）。

中央銀行と中央銀行業務の将来
「金融の安定は必ずしも経済の安定につながらない」という話をバブル時代を振り返ってしたようだが、もしかして今でもそういうスタンス？

日本の記者の中には、日本以外の金融政策の流れであるとかアメリカで起こっていること（金融規制法案の中で、FRBの金融政策自身を議会が監査しようという流れ）を理解しないで、場合によっては主催者側から渡された資料だけで記事にしている人がいるかも知れない。語学力の問題もあるだろう。
一次資料が手に入る時代なんだから、やっぱり一次資料にあたらなきゃな、と思わせる出来事だ。
